Aluminum 45mm thick water jet cutting processing

Aluminum A5052 45mm × φ605 fan-shaped equal division cut processing

The surface shows some peeling of the protective sheet at the initial penetration points, but the backside can be cut without almost any peeling. This is aluminum thick plate water jet cutting. Although it is thin, aluminum tends to easily form a natural oxide film when exposed to air, so after a certain amount of prolonged processing, it becomes waterlogged. Therefore, we want to protect as much as possible, except for the cut surface where the base material is exposed. Of course, with dynamic water jet cutting, the cutting head is automatically tilted to eliminate taper, reducing water flow delay and taper, allowing for high-precision cutting.

Water jet cutting processing of galvanized steel plate with optional position angle holes.

Water jet cutting processing of galvanized steel plate with optional position angle holes.

This unique building material, with its distinctive shape and surface color, creates a unique atmosphere visually. It has been adopted for the interior of a store, and we have undertaken some processing. It is said to provide an impressive ambiance for visitors and has received positive feedback. Among metal materials, it is a durable and rust-resistant material with various cutting methods available. The material used this time consists of corrugated sheets with a height difference of about 10mm at a 30mm pitch. While simple cutting poses no issues, the processing required is for arbitrary positions unrelated to the peaks and valleys, which caused difficulties for the processing contractor. Therefore, our water jet cutting service was chosen. However, the cutting exposes the raw surface completely, so after processing multiple corner cutouts, we carried out drying and curing each time. Concrete-filled steel pipe water jet cutting processing

With our extensive experience and track record in water jet cutting, we accept requests for prototyping and verification cutting of difficult-to-process materials such as metals, plastics, and composites.

A request was made to divide the test specimen, which has concrete filled inside a thin steel pipe, at arbitrary positions using water jet cutting in order to apply pressure and verify the compressive strength and durability without applying other pressures to the specimen for internal verification. Since there was a possibility of collapse and damage after the cutting, careful work was done, especially at the expected void areas, using low-speed cutting. The strength of the concrete in the test specimen was also very high, and except for areas that had already been damaged during the pressure test, there were no interlayer delaminations or significant defects, allowing for successful cutting. It was evaluated that the verification was conducted smoothly, and there are plans to request the extraction and cutting of other evaluation specimens as well. This case demonstrates how the characteristics of water jet cutting, which "does not cause thermal effects" and "can cut with low load," significantly contributed to the verification of the test specimen.

Water jet cutting processing of coil wave spring inner diameter notch.

With our extensive experience and track record in water jet cutting, we accept requests for prototyping and verification cutting of difficult-to-process materials such as metals, plastics, and composites.

The coiled wave spring "CWS" is a compression spring formed from flat wire into a continuous wave shape. It can provide higher loads than conventional compression springs, allowing for miniaturization and weight reduction while maintaining and controlling precise force. Additionally, it generates almost no waste during manufacturing, making it an environmentally friendly spring. This time, we received an inquiry about the possibility of processing an elliptical notch on the inner diameter, and we proceeded with sample cutting. We set up to control the jet diffusion in the deflection area, and the notch cutting was successful. However, the burrs on the backside could not be completely eliminated.

Glass top laminated structure verification water jet cutting process

With our extensive experience and proven track record in water jet cutting, we accept requests for prototype and verification cutting of difficult-to-process materials such as metals, plastics, and composites.

Extraction of test samples from arbitrary positions of glass top material for built-in stoves, which is resistant to high temperatures, shocks, and dirt. Due to differences in partial painting, back structure, and treatment, samples are cut using both punching and cutting methods. The material is highly resistant to thermal shock and impact, with a long lifespan of 15 to 20 years. Although water jet cutting allows for the creation of square holes, circular cutouts, and arbitrary curved shapes at any position, our abrasive has a coarse particle size, which can cause minor chipping, but no significant cracks or chips have occurred.

Recycled interior and exterior boards water jet cutting processing

With our extensive experience and proven track record in water jet cutting, we accept requests for prototyping and verification cutting of difficult-to-process materials such as metals, plastics, and composites.

Currently attracting significant attention, the interior and exterior wall material "SOLIDO" from major exterior material manufacturer Keimyuu Co., Ltd. is a sustainable material that utilizes the texture of cement and consists of approximately 60% recycled materials. This time, we conducted test processing for a project that involved creating an accent wall in part of the interior by cutting out a logo and stripes. The raw material feel, reminiscent of exposed concrete, is appealing, so it is important not to stress the surface or the material itself since it is not painted. There are absolutely no issues such as cracking, chipping, or delamination during initial penetration, and it does not generate stress in the material itself, allowing for precise cutting even with intricate designs.

Water jet cutting processing of resin concrete manhole covers.

With our extensive experience and proven track record in water jet cutting, we accept requests for prototype and verification cutting of difficult-to-process materials such as metals, resins, and composites.

Using no cement or water, we created a concrete that firmly binds crushed stone, sand, and calcium carbonate with thermosetting resin as the binder. This concrete is resistant to chemicals, wear, and has high strength, making it difficult to visually inspect the cross-section with standard cutting machines, which is why we received your request. The resin concrete lid was processed using water jet cutting. Although it appears flat, it has a drop lid shape, so the surface features a gentle curve and taper, and there is a recess for the handle on the underside, requiring some ingenuity in the setup.

Lightweight fiber compression board water jet cutting processing

With our extensive experience and track record in water jet cutting, we accept requests for prototype and verification cutting of difficult-to-process materials such as metals, resins, and composites.

Recycled materials from fiber-based waste, such as used clothing and old fabrics, are products that are gaining attention as building materials under limited circumstances, including rags and shoddy. While they are easy to process, there are issues such as dust during cutting. Therefore, water jet cutting was proposed as a sample cutting method. Since these materials are also used for wall greening, the high water retention during water jet cutting may be a disadvantage in processing.

CFRP carbon fiber reinforced plastic water jet cutting processing

It is ideal for cutting laminated materials such as carbon fiber, thermoplastic plastics, glass fiber reinforced plastics, and glass, which are lightweight and high-strength materials.

Carbon fiber reinforced resin board impregnated with thermosetting resin. With high strength and lightweight characteristics, it is suitable for products in the transportation sector, such as automobiles and aircraft, which require high energy efficiency. In recent years, the introduction of carbon fiber composites in the construction field for seismic reinforcement has also been considered. Although it is an expensive material, recently, low-cost and high-quality recycled CFRP has been developed. Additionally, there are many composite materials formed and bonded with steel plates and other materials as new structural materials, and we are also engaged in the extraction and cutting of test specimens. Carbon fiber reinforced plastics have very poor machinability, leading to various challenges such as tool wear and interlayer delamination. However, through Yokoyama Kiko's unique technology, such as Reduce Piercing, it is now possible to easily pierce materials that are prone to chipping and cracking during conventional high-pressure piercing, saving time and materials while maintaining structural integrity without causing interlayer delamination or delamination in the workpiece. It is ideal for cutting lightweight, high-strength materials such as carbon fiber plastics, carbon fiber reinforced thermoplastic plastics, glass fiber reinforced plastics, laminated materials, marble, other stones, and glass.

Ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene water jet cutting processing

Layout multiple arbitrary arc shapes into numerous segments for efficient material usage, minimizing waste as much as possible, and significantly reducing material costs.

Ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene (UHMWPE) new light board 40mm Segmented arc shape cutting processing Multiple arbitrary arc shapes are laid out in numerous segments to efficiently utilize materials, minimizing waste and significantly reducing material costs. We always consider profit assurance and yield improvement, keeping the spacing to a minimum for nesting. In the water jet cutting of thick resin boards, there are two specific issues: water flow delay and taper. However, with Flow's dynamic water jet, high-speed and high-precision taper-free cutting is possible, eliminating heat generation during processing and preventing chips from softening or thermally deforming. The 40mm thick board is processed almost vertically, cutting four types of segmented arcs and fan shapes into about 20 parts from a 1000mm x 2000mm board, reducing the conventional machining waste rate from about 50% to below 10%.

Aluminum 20mm plate water jet cutting processing

A5052 20mm sprocket image cut sample. The gear's slit section is processed with a width of 1.3mm and is a continuous engraving process.

A5052 20mm Sprocket Image Cut Sample The machining of the gear's slit section has a width of 1.3mm and is done in a single continuous motion. In general machining, it is thought that the spacing of the slit section may become uneven due to thermal effects, but it has been completed in a perfectly uniform state. The abrasive water jet is the optimal machining method for applications with high added value and is widely used for cutting aluminum and steel materials. It can cut materials ranging from 0.3mm to 180mm in thickness, regardless of the manufacturing volume. Since it does not undergo mechanical stress and is not affected by thermal deformation or thermal effects, it provides high-quality cut surfaces without stress, making it ideal for the production of test specimens made of metals and resins. Additionally, it saves time and costs that would traditionally be spent on secondary processing, and the setup and jig configuration can be completed in just a few minutes, thereby enhancing productivity. Water jet cutting is an efficient and optimal method for precision rough machining.

Water jet cutting of small pieces for hafnium metal disc additives

Water jet cutting of small pieces for hafnium metal disc additives

Hafnium metal, widely used in control rods for nuclear reactors, jet engine parts, semiconductor materials, etc. This time, we are cutting small pieces for additive materials in the production of special alloys. Due to its high hardness, susceptibility to oxidation, and uneven thickness, water jet cutting was chosen. There are various issues with small piece cutting using our equipment, making continuous processing difficult. However, with some leeway in tolerances, we devised a setting and cutting method to perform continuous cutting of 10mm squares. There were no issues such as abrasive particle embedding on the cutting surface, and after testing and verification of the cutting, we received a formal order. YK Accuracy Co., Ltd. Verification cutting of stainless steel heat exchangers. During cutting with a band saw, it was reported that the fin parts delaminated and the entire heat exchanger tilted diagonally. Water jet cutting was considered. Since the bonding areas are small, delamination due to the jet spray was also a concern, so the entire unit was fixed with resin before cutting. Although delamination occurred in several areas of the fin parts, the shape itself was cut without deformation.
